September 2023: Technology magazine NEXT makes successes of the high-tech industry visible

The technology magazine NEXT is a successful publication of Silicon Saxony, a member of the “go-cluster” programme of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). It provides information on trends and developments in the fields of microelectronics, software, skilled workers, smart systems as well as entrepreneurship, thus creating an in-depth understanding of the association's top issues – and the basis for new cooperations.

NEXT

The technology magazine NEXT was launched in 2012 and until recently reported once a year on exciting projects of the more than 450 members of Silicon Saxony, who come from all areas of the microelectronics and ICT industry. In addition, the magazine gave an outlook for the coming year.

The tenth anniversary marked the paradigm shift to a biannual and monothematic magazine format that focuses on selected focus topics: These deal with the top issues of importance to the industry from the association's five specialist areas: microelectronics, software, skilled workers, smart systems and entrepreneurship.

Supraregional attention

The fact that this concept is working is shown by the broad attention it is receiving: NEXT is noticed by political authorities as well as journalists. For example, articles and graphics from NEXT magazine can be found in the Handelsblatt, the Financial Times or in the public relations work of other clusters.

Julia Nitzschner, Marketing & Communication, Silicon Saxony:

“NEXT creates understanding for the top issues in our industry. At the same time, it is a modern multimedia format that bundles publications from our high-reach channels such as podcast, website and more. It opens the door to user industries, other clusters and also national companies to these topics and thus the competencies at the location.”

Successful NEXT format: A blueprint for cluster work?

With NEXT, Silicon Saxony creates a content input for the network, increases the importance of the network beyond its own borders and represents the content work of the office to multipliers from politics and society. It shows the range of companies organised in the network and their topics as well as innovations and solutions of these companies and thus represents them to the outside. At the same time, it bundles the content-related work of the nearly 20 working and focus groups and makes the faces of the association visible.

Silicon Saxony e. V.

With almost 500 members, Silicon Saxony e. V. is the largest high-tech network in Saxony and one of the largest microelectronics and IT clusters in Germany and Europe. As a self-financed association, Silicon Saxony has been connecting manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, universities, research institutes, public institutions and industry-relevant start-ups in Saxony and beyond since its foundation in 2000.

The overriding goals of the network's work include the expansion and strengthening of Europe's leading microelectronics location and the advancement of the parallel development of Saxony as a software state. This is done in close coordination with the Saxon state government and the economic development institutions in the Free State. In this constellation, the association also supports regional location marketing.
