Automotive West is the network of the automotive industry in northwest Germany. With production sites of Daimler AG in Bremen and Volkswagen AG in Emden and Osnabrück nearly 200 suppliers are located in the region. The sector directly employs some 45,000 people, another 40,000 people work for suppliers, thus the automotive sector is one of the most important industries between the rivers Weser and Ems. Almost all that is needed for car production is located in the catchment area of the large production plants.

Last but not least, the Northwest region also is characterized by its location near to the North Sea and its seaports, where automobile handling with its associated services plays a very important role.

80 companies and scientific institutions represented

Automotive Nordwest represents nearly 80 companies and scientific institutions that are active around vehicle production, including the Mercedes plant in Bremen, Hella, BLG Logistics Group and many suppliers. The area of the cluster covers the entire northwest of Niedersachsen from the districts Cuxhaven, Osterholz, Verden, Diepholz and Osnabrück in the west to the Dutch border in the east. Bremen, Bremerhaven and Oldenburg as important regional centres are also included.

The cluster has made it his mission to raise awareness of the region as an automotive centre of excellence. It also promotes economic relations and exchanges of experience between network members through events, workshops and cross-industry knowledge transfer.
