The Medical Valley European Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg (EMN) is a leading international medical technology cluster. Highly specialized research institutions as well as numerous internationally leading and growing companies are active here. With the aim of finding joint solutions to the challenges of healthcare today and tomorrow, they cooperate closely with globally renowned healthcare research institutions.

In combination with the international market and competitive position of individual players, this creates optimal conditions that enable the rapid development of products, processes and services. In recent years, numerous product innovations from the Medical Valley research laboratories have come onto the market.

The nationally and internationally outstanding position of the economically strong region was further strengthened in January 2010 by its appointment as a national leading cluster for medical technology by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). In April 2017, Medical Valley was named one of twelve national „digital hubs“ by the Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWK) - in cooperation with the Zollhof and the Health Hackers Erlangen – the Digital Health Hub. Medical Valley EMN e. V. is operating as a cluster management organization since 2007. We have currently more than 250 members from business, science, healthcare, networks and politics. Plus a huge network around.

Specific activities of the Medical Valley EMN include the coordination of the Bavarian Medical Technology Cluster (in cooperation with Bayern Innovativ Gesundheit), the implementation of the Medical Valley Awards (prize for research teams in pre-foundation phases) and the coordination of the European Digital Health Hub DigiCare. We support national and international start-ups and SMEs to quickly bring their ideas to the German healthcare market.
