Cluster and network funding

Advancement of research and development in Lower Saxony is primarily conducted by instruments such as research and innovation associations. With higher market maturity of new technologies and increasing focus on technology transfer to the business sector, national and regional network structures and initiatives become effective. These initiatives are commonly financed by different ministries according to thematic orientation. The majority, however, receives funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

State initiatives are also crucial in the process. Their main task is composed of securing heightened technology transfer from science to industry and the economic sector, particularly to SMEs. State initiatives are arranged in fields Lower Saxony has identified as containing high potential for future development. Currently, new priorities are set with state initiatives and networks in the areas of industry 4.0, eHealth as well as “generation appropriate daily life”.
