The promotion of cluster networks is an important field of action for Hesse's economic and innovation policy. In the meantime, some 3,500 members – mainly companies, universities, research institutions and other players – are active in more than 35 cluster networks in Hesse. Hesse pursues a bottom-up approach in its cluster funding. The initiative for networking must come from the players in companies and regions. New cluster networks will be supported after a short preparatory phase in a three-year build-up phase and, if successful, afterwards in a further three-year stabilisation phase. In addition, selected innovative projects for the further development of existing cluster networks will be supported.
The cluster support team of Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH and HA Hessen Agentur GmbH advises the cluster networks on building and further developing networks as well as on funding opportunities. Workshops and regular meetings on knowledge transfer and networking also take place.
Subsidies for innovative ideas
The state of Hesse promotes innovative, technology-oriented research and development projects at the interface of business and science. The focus is on the development of new, marketable products, processes and services. Applicants include in particular small and medium-sized enterprises based in Hesse which are planning their R&D projects individually or jointly with other partners. The funding is open to all topics and sectors and takes the form of a proportionate grant. The first step towards funding is to submit a meaningful sketch to HA Hessen Agentur GmbH before the start of the project.
HA Hessen Agentur GmbH is the point of contact for several Hessian funding programmes (e.g. LOEWE funding line 3, exemplary R&D projects, electromobility). The funding experts provide companies and universities with advice and support during the application phase and the entire project duration. Since 2008, the Innovation Promotion Team has successfully supported well over 500 projects.
