OptoNet e. V. represents the interests of 121 players from industry, research and education who are active in the field of photonics. They all pursue the common goal of strengthening the internationally successful high-tech location in the heart of Germany and to contribute to a better future with light-related technologies.

The office thus focuses its activities on the fields of communication, cooperations and competencies.

• Communication: creating a lively information platform, gathering and publishing growth data and development forecasts, national and international location marketing, representation of interests in politics, associations and unions, international trade fair appearances, public relations
• Cooperations: initiation of cooperation projects in professional groups and workshops, through the procurement of partners, organisation of business trips, and strengthening international cooperations through delegation visits and trade fair appearances, supervision of research projects through OptoNet CoOPTICS GmbH
• Competencies: international technology roadmapping, strengthening technological expertise through the organisation of workshops and symposia, expert groups, promotion of new talents
