NanoMat was founded in 1998 as a national network with its management office being located at KIT in Karlsruhe. Among its members are 48 renowned partners from the areas of industry and research that aim to promote applied research in nanotechnologies and materials research with specific projects. NanoMat acts as a virtual enterprise, fostering and executing application-orientated R&D projects and supporting the exchange of information between and within the respective circles of experts by organising workshops. Through its network platform, NanoMat maintains an active political dialogue and offers comprehensible information on nanotechnological issues for a broader public.
