The Network

BioPark Regensburg GmbH is a company of the city of Regensburg and part of the economic development department. Its core task is to promote biotechnology, medical technology, diagnostics & analytics and the healthcare industry at the location and in the region. On the one hand, BioPark Regensburg operates three laboratory buildings with a total area of 18,000 m2 on the grounds of the University of Regensburg, where 35 tenants with 718 employees are currently working. On the other hand, the active cluster management of the BioRegio Regensburg is coordinated from there, with currently 61 companies and 4,093 employees in Eastern Bavaria.

At the beginning of 2017, the BioPark launched the new brand "Healthcare Regensburg" in order to be able to meet the desire of all stakeholders for a joint visibility of the healthcare location. This will further develop the BioRegio Regensburg cluster and expand its content to include the topic area of healthcare management. At the end of 2018, a master plan was drawn up, from which initial recommendations for action and project proposals for the further development of the healthcare industry at the Regensburg location and in the region also emerged.

Several projects have already been successfully implemented by Healthcare Regensburg. For example, the "Digital Health Initiative" was launched, which bundles, supports and further develops the activities for digitalisation in medical care at the location in an interdisciplinary manner. In the process, the network players were also given the opportunity to present themselves at national and international trade fairs via their own joint stands. In order to promote the establishment of innovative companies in the healthcare industry, the BioPark has launched the "Healthcare Accelerator - BioPark Jump".

A recent study by the cluster shows that in 2019, 831 companies in the Regensburg area generated a turnover of €2.7 billion, documenting the growing importance of this industry for the future of the region.
