BioLAGO e.V. – the health network
BioLAGO is an international healthcare network in the four-country region of Lake Constance (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Liechtenstein). It unites 146 members in the healthcare industry, who together provide around 25,000 jobs in the Lake Constance region. With more than 200,000 jobs, the healthcare sector is one of the core industries in the Hochrhein-Bodensee region.
BioLAGO addresses the high-tech sectors of the healthcare industry: medical technology, diagnostics, bioinformatics and pharmaceuticals including personalized medicine, often referred to in the literature as the 4Ds of medicine: Devices, Diagnostics, Data, Drugs & Therapy. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), universities, research institutes, clinics, laboratories and large companies work together as equals in the BioLAGO health network to jointly develop innovations in the field of health.
The BioLAGO health network links business and science. The association actively promotes knowledge transfer and the establishment of new companies. BioLAGO has already been successfully active in the four-country region of Lake Constance and beyond for more than 14 years. Active partnering has resulted in more than 300 member cooperations that have created innovations in the region and beyond.
BioLAGO stands for cross-border cooperation and networking of business competencies. The network actively supports its members through an industry-focused range of services such as training courses and conferences, skilled labour initiatives, knowledge and technology transfer, consulting and marketing.
A cornerstone of the association is its ongoing work on innovative healthcare projects. Currently, the BioLAGO team coordinates six ongoing international projects with a total funding volume of 24 million euros. By linking research, development, production and application, the network strengthens SMEs in their innovative power and competitiveness. Close cooperation with research institutions promotes the development of new technologies.
As the first network on Lake Constance and one of only three healthcare clusters in Germany, BioLAGO was awarded the quality label “Cluster Excellence Baden-Württemberg” by the Ministry of Economics, Labour and Housing of the State of Baden-Württemberg and the Gold Label for professional management by the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI) of the European Union for its performance.
In addition, BioLAGO is a member of the excellence program “go-cluster: Excellent networking” of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK).
